Speaking the truth is never easy but always right. It's absolute, unbending, and should never be sacrificed for our comfort; rather, comfort should be taken in having held it close and raised it high even through persecution. In the end, the reward will far outweigh the cost (II Corinthians 4:13-18).HOT TOPICS

Divide and Conquer
This past week, I talked to a couple people on separate occasions about the same topic (you know who you are). I’ve had to explain my reasoning on this subject often enough that I thought it was worth blogging. It’s … Continue reading

Time & Earthquakes
Another 2 months abroad – and the adventure begins tomorrow! Oddly enough, it still feels like I only just returned home to the United States. My family barely made it back from Vietnam this December to celebrate the new year. … Continue reading

Death Stinketh
Good embalming skills are hard to come by, wouldn’t you say? I was thinking about this today when I saw an advertisement for the popular television show, Bones. My friend Abby loves that show. Why an art major has a … Continue reading

The Perfect Kiss
Like the title? I went through quite a few possibilities before I finally settled on this one. Unfortunately, it’s not referring to chocolate (although I do love Hershey kisses this time of year). This is actually a story, a true … Continue reading

Moose-tracks & Memories
Because LIFE is all about “forgetting what’s behind and straining toward what’s ahead” (Philippians 3:13). It was a fantastic reminder for Bryson and me before we arrived in Wisconsin-below-freezing. We knew what we’d be facing; we knew what we’d see, feel, and smell. In many ways, it’s become like a five-year viewing. Most people pay their respects in a single visit to a funeral home; we’ve been doing it annually for more than half a decade. Whether it’s the death of a phase or a life, we can still find things to appreciate and, above all, no matter how cold it is, we always enjoy the hope and certainty that spring is coming soon. You won’t catch us looking back. Continue reading

Leaving Comfortable
I’m looking forward to seeing this again when we leave for Asia in less than two weeks: (I know it’s shaky and inadequate but the communist government took all the good footage) We won’t only be in communist Vietnam and … Continue reading

Free Thought? How About I Give You a Penny For It?
Thoughts have been on my mind a lot lately and I mean that in the philosophical sense, not the literal sense (although both would be true). My one-track mind has been running a marathon this week. Don’t worry, that’s my last … Continue reading
